Over the past few years, we’ve shipped about a thousand bikes with our square-style seat post. The vast majority of these bikes have held up beautifully, but in the past year we’ve had two reports of seat post failures occurring right below the saddle clamp.
While these cases are rare, your safety is too important to leave to chance.
That’s why we’ve decided to offer a voluntary upgrade for anyone with an affected seat post. Even though this only affects a small number of bikes, we’re choosing to act proactively by making sure anyone who wants a stronger, updated post can get one at no cost.
How to Know If You’re Affected
This voluntary recall applies primarily to bikes shipped before April 15, 2025.
Here’s what to look for:
- If your seat post is smooth and round where it meets the saddle clamp, it’s the older version.
- The new version has a diamond knurl pattern at the top, which offers better grip and durability. We have also improved the connecting weld.
If you’re not sure, no problem. Just reach out, we’re here to help.
You can easily spot the difference from the back side of the seat as shown below.
.
Even if your post looks fine, we welcome anyone with the older version to request an upgrade.
What Are Your Options?
We want to make this process easy for everyone, no matter your level of bike experience.
You can choose from these three paths:
1. Do-It-Yourself (DIY)
We’ve created a quick video to show you exactly how to swap your seat post using a standard 13mm closed-end wrench.
Watch the swap tutorial here:
[How To Swap Your Seatpost]
2. Have Us Do It for You
Prefer not to handle the replacement yourself? No problem. Just send your seat post and saddle to us, and we’ll take care of the swap and send it back. →
Please include a note in your package with your Name, Return shipping address & any deadlines that you’d like us to know about (e.g. upcoming event)
3. Visit Your Local Bike Shop
You can also bring both the old seat post and saddle along with the new seat post to your local bike shop. The swap is simple, and most shops can handle it quickly.
- Bring this video with you in case there is any confusion.
