What does "Fossil Fool" mean?
"Fossil Fool" is a play on words of "Fossil Fuel". With so much increasing awareness that Fossil Fuel use is a contributor to Global Warming, and is related to current geopolitical conflicts, many people are searching for a better way to power our lives. The bicycle is one symbol that we as individuals are both committed to and are actively pursuing a better way.
OK, great. So you're committed to reducing your Fossil Fuel use. But how are you going to spread the word so that others will join you?
Out in San Francisco where we live, a bunch of bike people zip-tie a sign on their bikes that says: "Bicycling, a quiet statement against oil wars." I've always disliked these signs.
It's like, we don't need "A quiet statement" right now. We need a big old ass whooping statement!

Back in medieval times in the king's court, the fool was a special kind of entertainer. This was the guy (or girl, I suppose) that told the hard news of the day and couched it in humor and song, slipping right under the nose of the king even when it was unflattering. The fool speaks directly to the people.
So a Fossil Fool is one who is out there, with song and humor, spreading the truth about the bicycle, the environment, and about how great our communities can be when people adopt a new way of living.
