What are your all-time favorite albums to cruise to? Not songs, but whole albums.
When you're leading a ride, and you're playing one of these albums, you can basically just relax because you know that just about every song is good. That's the kind of albums I'm talking about.
I don't want to kill the discussion by throwing up a big long list, but I'll post one to get it started:
The Very Best of Marvin Gaye, Disc 2 -- the funky years. This includes "What's going on?" "Got to Give It Up," and "Sexual Healing." Even the less known songs here, like "Where are we going?" are fantastic.
So... What are yours?

A Modern Oldie
Sly and the Family Stone, ANTHOLOGY album, from "Dance to the Music" to "Que Sera, Sera". It brings me through the full range of my emotions!
The Collective...
is brilliant! Check out the soundtrack to the movie, Roam. Here's "She's On a Mission" by Slackstring:
When she goes out she don't take no car
She rides her bike slow but she rides it far
Got her signals down
She don't stub no toes
You know why she's riding
Because she digs it the most
Let me just tell you why
She's on a mission
Whether it's wet or dry
Yeah she's on a mission
Just passin by
She's on a mission.

Other than that, any album by Johnny Cash would work.
Or maybe that's just me:)
I usually have tunes to share with others
And a whole album of the same artist seems like too much of a risk of limiting mass appeal (if someone doesn't like my favorite band, at least they won't have to dislike them for 40 minutes).
If it was going to be all one band, it would probably need to be the Who.
My riding music of choice is breakbeat mixes from Protonradio.com (I sign up for the OnDemand service now and then and use a little freeware app to capture the mixes).

I've been listening
I've been listening to:
Ratatat - Classics
Dr. Dre - 2001
Daft Punk - Discovery
White Williams - Smoke
All of these aren't much to sing along to with the exception of the Dr. Dre... If you get 5 or more people rapping along with the music, you get plenty of strange looks.
Ditto on Ratatat
Ratatat is good for cruising, and freestyling too.

Fossil Fool, the Bike Rapper
I like just about anything
I like just about anything by Brian Setzer, Billy Idol, or the Cult. How about Kraftwork's "Tour De France"? Queen's "I Want To Ride My Bicycle"?
Fave Albums to Cruise to
REM - Chronic Town
U2 - Achtung, Baby & Joshua Tree
Prince - Purple Rain
The Clash - Give him enough rope
Jimi Hendrix - The Ultimate Experience
Prince is really cool!
After seeing his movie "Purple Rain" sometime in the mid '80s, I would go "vrooom, vroooom" before I started pedaling and sing "When Doves Cry" while riding. I felt really silly!
For a Night Ride Along the Beach. . .
. . .I like U2's Unforgettable Fire. There aren't too many albums that I will listen to in their entirety, let alone play in their entirety on a ride. This is one of them.
Never thought of U2
... But yeah, it's a pretty good album with some solid rock grooves -- more album like that later U2 outings.
