The Pedal Power Education Rig is a hands-on way for you to teach energy conservation without scare tactics, guilt trips, or lectures. It's physical. When students pedal the bike, they can feel the energy draw of the different different devices they plug in, including different lightbulbs, laptops, and their favorite music.
Here are the functions of the Pedal Power Education Rig. Please note that some features are optional. The following list denotes a complete system.
- Blends smoothies or generates power -- switch modes without tools, using the same press-in fitting for the generator as for the blender pitcher.

- Cranks out 110V AC or 12VDC power -- 300 Watt AC inverter integrated safely in DIT Head Unit. 12 VDC mode can use any car electronics devices. This bike was powerful enough to run the wall-powered speakers for a school's assembly!

- Down Low Glow indicator (the green light in the picture above) -- when the bike is powered up, the DLG is on. The Envy Green DLG is a great symbol of the bike and green movement.
This bike has the following key benefits.
- Lessons about conservation and nutrition are much more likely to stick when students are physically involved. Students can feel the pull of various devices in their legs. When they feel the difference between an incandescent and a CCFL lightbulb, they'll be more likely to turn lights off and switch their family's lights to CCFL. When they know what it takes to blend a smoothie or grind coffee, they'll be more open to putting good ingredients in that smoothie and learning about the Fair Trade movement.

- Inspires students to take one of the most important steps to reducing their impact, replacing car trips with bike trips.
- It's social. It's a cool thing to be the one pedaling, creating the power that blends a smoothie or amplifies a microphone. This puts the students in a position to be better ambassadors of these messages of change. It's a great icebreaker at events.
- Can be used for Green assemblies such as Earth Day, and other events, to power the microphone. In an outdoor setting, this may be simpler than using a generator or long extension cord.
The kit is available for all three Fender Blenders
- Universale - attaches to any bike
- Xtracycle - added utitily (pictured)
- Pro - Highly visible blending in front and includes the stationary frame
In the case of the Fender Blender Universal and Xtracycle, the Pedal Power Education Rig is mobile. An educator can ride to a school, teach a class, then ride home, carrying all the supplies needed on the bike. This is especially true with the Fender Blender Xtracycle, shown below:
